Long Drive Contest

Today was my last appointment with my primary care physician who is Dr. Nordell Brown. He had decided to just be a pediatrician now and focus on the little ones. He is Gracie's doctor and such a wonderful man. He has saved my life countless numbers of times and I just hope I can find a replacement as wonderful as he has been. Of course at the lab today they had the same problem they always do...couldn't find a vein so I am a human pin cushion. Got home and was really thirsty and that usually means one thing...I have high blood sugar. I tested my blood sugar and it was 465! I couldn't believe it! I had been fasting for the blood work, but before I left for the doctor I was 110, so I don't know what happened. I gave me a bolus of 18 units knowing it would very slowly come down, I checked it again an hour later and...It was 498! I knew something was wrong so I called Dr. Brown himself and he had me rip the IV out, give me a regular shot of humalog and put a new IV in. It has been so many years since I have had to give me a shot in my stomach that it actually scared me and didn't feel real great either, but it did the trick. I am now sitting pretty at 118 thank goodness! And thanks to Dr. Brown too!

Luke had a long drive contest tonight at Birch Creek, so Gracie and I went and watched and my cute parents showed up too! It was lots of fun and a beautiful day to get out and enjoy the weather! I have been telling Luke he never gives me flowers ever so today he brought me home a rose. SO sweet, even if it is because I have been hounding him for one lol. Men just need to appreciate women more. I hate getting flowers on only valentines or an anniversary. My favorite time for flowers is the just because ones. That is when I feel so loved and needed.

I should have brought the camera to the golf course to take a pic of Luke, but with my blood sugars on my mind, grabbing the camera was the last thing I was thinking of. But I will post pics soon. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

The Zoo, Father's Day and the WWE!!!!!!!!!...need I say more?

I should have posted last week but so much has been happening and Gracie and I have been sick with a cold that seems to finally be leaving! Luke and I took Gracie to the zoo last Saturday and she seemed to really like it. She liked watching the monkeys swing around. I should have taken a pic of Luke, Gracie and the animals but I didn't even think about it until we were back out in the parking lot, but here is a cute shot!

Father's day was fun since it was Luke's first father's day with a daughter. We went and had dinner with my family and here is a pic of my cute Dad opening his goodies.

Monday night was so awesome. Mark and I went to the WWE at the E-Center and it was everything and more than I thought it would be. The only bad part of the night was about the time the last event started, I got a migraine and it came on quick. We were in a sold out crowd, so there was no getting out early. I thought I was going to puke the whole way home so I had Mark stay in the right lane in case we needed to pull over quick, but we made it all the way to Brigham before I lost it. I felt terrible I ruined the evening, but up until that point it was so much fun. I don't know how many of you are wresting fans, but Shawn Michaels has always been my favorite (besides The Rock of course) and he was on the list of events for the night, but never made an appearance which really sucked. But I did get to see Triple H and Jerico in the main event which was so awesome and Jeff Hardy, John Cena and even the retired Rick Flair made an appearance also. It was so dark that the pictures didn't turn out great, but here is one of Triple H right before we left. We had awesome seats. Take a look at this pic!

Before the show started we went and checked out their semi's so here is Mark with one of his babes and here is a pic of my Shawn Michaels!

We will be making that a tradition each time they come. I have never seen more white trash in my life, but that just made the whole experience even funner! Mullet mania. I should have taken pics of all of them!
I am so truly honored and blessed to have Mark for my little brother. He and I have always been really close and I just love him more than he will ever know. After Gracie was born and everything that happened to me in the hospital, the first person I remember being there was Mark. I don't remember much about the whole hospital stay, but I do remember Mark holding my hand in the recovery room and him talking to me and it is a moment I will treasure forever. I love you Mark!
Here is one last photo of my little Gracie today. It's too bad I didn't get a close up of her knees because they are raw from crawling along with the tops of her feet...poor baby!

Look Who's Crawling!

Gracie decided to crawl for the first time last Friday and I was going to post it right away, and now that I have this new video camera, it has taken me awhile to figure out how to post it, but here it is. Hope it doesn't make you motion sick. I wasn't planning on her crawling when she did, so I wasn't overly steady with the camera. She is so cute. This camera just doesn't do her justice!

Gracie and I both have a horrible head cold which sucks. She hasn't slept through the night all week and we all know that means neither do I! I took her upstairs the other night at midnight because she wouldn't stop crying and I didn't want her to wake Luke up since he had to be up early, so we spent 4 hours in the recliner upstairs. Luke let me know he didn't even know I was gone. That is a man for you!

Tonight I was hoping to be at the demolition derby with my cute little brother, but I didn't want to get him sick, so we stayed home darn it. This coming Monday Mark is taking me on a date to the WWE show in SLC. I don't know how many of you know my love for the WWE, but I am pumped and even more pumped to be going with my little brother! Wahoo! I will fill you in when I get back. Hope everyone is having a super day!

15 Years Ago Today

I just wanted to take a minute and let everyone know how grateful I am to be alive and be blessed with all of the many wonderful things I am blessed with on a daily basis. Exactly 15 years ago today, marks the first day I was diagnosed with diabetes. It was the night before graduation when I went into a coma and I would have to say that I think I do a mighty fine job at taking care of myself. Besides this stupid weight I can't get off!

Most of you know that I have been on an insulin pump now for about 10 years which has drastically changed my life. Before the pump I was doing at least 3 shots a day and I was to the point where I would just dread breakfast, lunch or dinner because it meant not only poking me to find out what my blood sugar was, but also to give me a shot of insulin so I could eat. And as most of you know I am still to this day terrified of needles! The pump has been so great for me. It is an IV that I only have to replace about once every 3 days which beats shots 3 times a day. It was hard to get used to wearing the pump 24/7, but now I can't imagine not having it. Technology has come so far just in the past 15 years. I truly don't believe I will see a cure in my lifetime, but I think they have made great strides in diabetes, and I hope they continue to do so because that just buys me more time with my little Gracie and cute family and dogs. I used to always take for granted so many things like just waking up, going to the cupboard and getting my cereal and eating it. Now I do that, but not before I take 1000 pills, check my blood and give me insulin. I miss the days of not having to be on so much medication, but I wouldn't be here without it.

Some days are harder than others with diabetes, but overall....I think things are going to be just fine! I hope all is well with everyone! Keep smiling and know you are loved!

Oh, and...my cute, cute friend Michelle stopped by tonight for a suprise visit with her cute hubby Troy and the boys. She looked fabulous and it was so great seeing her, even though the house was a mess and I look like death warmed over, lol. Thanks for stopping by Michelle! We love you!
